HEXAGONE MMA Winamax has once again made a lasting impression! This Saturday, for its grand debut in Aix-en-Provence, the number one MMA organization in France delivered a top-level evening in a packed and electrifying arena. The highlight of the show was the clash between Leopold Goi and Romero dos Reis, which saw the Brazilian emerge victorious with a supersonic knockout, thus claiming the prestigious flyweight title!

Five seconds for a belt

He came for his revenge! Already crowned champion last April, but ultimately removed due to a refereeing error, Brazilian Romero dos Reis set the record straight this Saturday, clinching the HEXAGONE MMA Winamax flyweight (-57 kg) belt in the most spectacular ways. Defeating French Leopold Goi by knockout in just 7 seconds, dos Reis confirmed his status as one of the organization’s most explosive (19 finishes) and talented athletes. A truly high level of competition…
“I want to thank Leopold, my opponent. We share the same dreams, and even though we face each other in the cage, we are brothers,” commented Dos Reis after his thunderous victory. “I also thank HEXAGONE MMA, and I am ready to defend my belt in two or three months. I love France!”

Davy Gallon in the tournament semi-finals

In Aix-en-Provence, the other major event of the evening took place in the lightweight category (-70 kg). The final quarter-final of the €100,000 HEXAGONE MMA Winamax tournament, the clash between Davy Gallon and Mathias Poiron, lived up to all expectations, with Gallon emerging victorious by split decision after a three-round battle. The 36-year-old veteran thus advances to the semi-finals and will soon face Wilson Varela, the reigning champion of the category, for a place in the final!
“At the beginning of the fight, I didn’t want to dive in to keep my cardio level above his. That allowed me to change pace in the third round: I decided to step on the gas, and you could see the difference!” Gallon explained to the microphone, before smilingly challenging Wilson Varela, who had come for a one-on-one. “Wilson, I have enormous respect for your career. If I win this tournament, it will be for you!”

The people of Marseille are ready to step up

Finally, on Saturday, other fighters distinguished themselves in the Arena cage. First up was Nika Kobakhidze, who won by knockout against Guillaume Delattre with a superb knee strike in the second round. A spectacular victory that could pave the way for a championship fight in the featherweight division (-66 kg).
In Aix-en-Provence, several local athletes also shone in the cage, such as Marseille veteran Araik Margaryan (43 professional fights), who emerged victorious by submission from a hard-fought duel against Valentino Riva. Another representative from Marseille, the Franco-Senegalese fighter Moussa Ndiaye, also made a strong impression on home turf, securing a convincing victory by submission against Valik Poyrlyu. A successful evening!
