The baptism of fire was a resounding success! This Friday, January 23rd, for its grand debut in Montpellier, HEXAGONE MMA Winamax delivered an exceptional evening, drawing thousands of spectators to a packed and enthusiastic Zénith arena. The heavyweight world championship, the main event, saw Adama Diop dethrone Prince Aounallah, while Clément Giordanengo made a significant impact in the middleweight tournament quarterfinals. A truly unique evening!

Adama Diop creates a surprise

It’s a true feat! Coming in as an outsider, Adama Diop achieved the impossible this Friday, dethroning heavyweight champion Prince Aounallah in the main event of HEXAGONE MMA Winamax 38. Winning by decision after a bloody fight, Diop ended Aounallah’s reign, which had been in place since 2023! With this fourth consecutive victory, and a championship belt around his waist, the Senegalese fighter has established himself more than ever as the new terror of the division…
“I prepared so hard for this fight, I was ready to go 45 minutes in the cage!” declared the new champion, just minutes after his victory. “It’s great, but I still have a lot to show in combat, like my jiu-jitsu and my muay thai. I can bring a lot to MMA.”

Giordanengo joins Novenyi Jr in the semi-finals

In Montpellier this Friday, another highly anticipated fight opposed Clément Giordanengo against Islem Masraf! The second quarter-final of the HEXAGONE MMA Winamax middleweight tournament—with a €100,000 prize —saw Giordanengo emerge victorious by TKO after a high-intensity first round. With this win, the Frenchman advances to the semi-finals and will soon face the formidable Norbert Novenyi Jr. for a place in the final. A must-see event!
“As always, cardio, guys, that’s the only way to go!” exclaimed the powerhouse Clément Giordanengo after his suffocating fight. “We were completely invisible in this tournament! Nobody believed in us, neither in Islem or in me, for these quarter-finals. But I’m still here, and I’m going much further!”

Young talents present

Finally, several promising MMA fighters were also on the card at the Zénith in Montpellier this Friday. And they all delivered! In his second professional fight, local favorite Corentin Roux, winner of the MMA Academy, secured another spectacular finish, submitting Sebastian Ratajczyk in round 2. Former Muay Thai world champion, Swiss fighter Youssouf Ouattara, notched his fourth MMA victory with a TKO win over Youssef Faout. Also noteworthy was Mahamadou Soukouna’s decision victory, his fifth consecutive win in the welterweight division!
Following this successful event, HEXAGONE MMA Winamax has also set its sights on the future. The French organization will return to Montpellier on January 15, 2027, and is already planning a packed schedule!
